Sony’s next-generation wearable, the Smartwatch 3, has recently appeared in the Google Play store at $250. It’s also available from Verizon. It has been at the IFA in Berlin, but there still isn’t a definitive release date on this particular piece of hardware.
The Sony Smartwatch 3 is priced at $249.99, the same as the insanely popular Moto 360. You can argue that it can’t compete with the 360, that it’s inferior. It isn’t as visually attractive as the 360, an despite being marketed to the sporty crowd, it doesn’t have a heart rate monitor, like most of its competitors.
Specs are nothing new, a 1.6 inch transflective LCD, a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 512MB RAM, and 4GB of onboard storage. It also has a 420mAh battery rated for 2 days of normal use. There are interchangeable silicone bands and a water resistance rating of IP68.
Even though it’s now in the Play Store, there’s no real release date on the device. We now know that the Sony Smartwatch 3 is imminent, and we’ll keep you posted on the specifics.
